Important Note:

Saturday, April 27, is the ABC tour of the Herpetological Sanctuary and then cruise for lunch at Local Jonny’s in Cave Creek. It’s also a celebration of life for Mark Peck, who organized the luncheon last year and who was organizing this years event when he sadly suddenly passed. Paid ABC members can come and bring guests. I need to know who’s coming to have enough tour guides and seats at the restaurant. Tours are free at the sanctuary for members and guests and one has to pay for their own meals and drinks at the restaurant. Please email me directly by 8 am tomorrow (April 20th) with numbers of people you are bringing on the tour and numbers at the restaurant and how many buses at the restaurant so spots can be reserved.

Thanks,

Russell Greene

Forever Young Campout

May 17-19, 2024

Where: Antlers Cafe & Bar, 46788 AZ-288, Young, AZ 85554, USA (map)

All Volkswagen's and campers are welcome!

Here's what's up:

  • There will be an "optional" donation box to support the local charity of Young, AZ.
  • Justin and Corina Griffin will be there to welcome everyone to get set up on Friday anytime after 9am.
  • The Antlers restaurant will be open from 11am-8pm (full menu) for lunch and dinner, including music and band.
  • Friday night is Fish Fry & Saturday night is the Prime Rib Special.
  • Live music at Antlers on Saturday 6-8pm.
  • Live music at the Valley Bar (across the street) on Friday & Saturday nights.
  • Antler's will have breakfast burritos 9am on Sunday. Also an alternative breakfast cafe 2 miles away.
  • It looks like we won't have any fire restrictions, so Justin has made accommodations for a bonfire if those attending are so inclined on Friday night in the back lot of Antlers.

  • Local museum will be open. The Houghland store will open their doors for tours from 9am-5pm on Saturday. Any small donations go to the local museum. The Houghland store, which was the original store that serviced this area from the early 30's until the 70's. The current owners have painstakingly restored it to its former glory with period correct wares.

No agenda - just camp and have fun and support the local business. There are no planned caravans at this time.
We will have two Port-a-Johns available.

Important - Please read: The "North Road" as we call it from the 260 is consistently graded and safe for any two wheel drive vehicle. It's wide and smooth.

The "South Road '' from Globe is not maintained as much and I would advise it be taken slowly. However two wheel drive would suffice. Although the views of Roosevelt Lake and the backside of Four Peaks are breathtaking. There are many views of both from various vistas.
