2026 Jamboree Splitty
Special thanks to our new club member Felipe Recendez and to Reuben for coming over to Russell’s on Friday to help out. They spent hours going after the very fine sandblasting media that seemed to have gone everywhere inside the bus. If you’ve never tried doing this job, you just have no idea….
First you vacuum the best you can and then you blow the media out of all the little cracks and someone follows up and vacuums again. Then you do it all over again because the media settles out of the air right back into the little crevasses, only not as much as when you started. Hopefully. They did that process at least five times and managed to do a great job. Then Reuben cleaned and wire wheeled the rain gutter while Felipe removed the black, glued down horse hair stuff from the channels on the surface right above the engine. Then he sanded down the rough and rust spots that were left until it was really a decent surface again. Very nice work. This job is really, really hard, dusty, grimy and just thankless. So Great Job guys. Thank You.
Russell and I followed up with rust converter everywhere. We had to let the converter cure overnight and I’ll get back over there this afternoon and prime all the places that now need priming.
We’re not at that point yet where there’s enough for a bigger group to do. We’re starting with those smaller, frustrating and time consuming jobs that make us all crazy. But when we get those out of the way, we’ll be able to all get together again and have some real fun.
I’ll keep everyone posted.
