2026 Jamboree Splitty
On Saturday, Bill continued working on the rusted floor repairs. The repair this week was the front floor on the drivers side. Cutting out the bad floor area, making a template, using the template to cut a new steel repair patch piece and then trimming it to fit well enough to weld in place takes hours. And Bill had to go to work Saturday morning before he came to work on the bus! That’s going above and beyond….. Thanks, Bill. Before Bill got there I worked some more on bending and shaping more brake lines. I’m down to the last two in the rear between the soft line and the wheel cylinders. Don’t have any old ones to use to help shape the new ones so I’m just going at it the best I can.
While Bill was welding, Mike and I worked on preparing a list of parts to order. It was a maddening task. We have to open the boxes of the parts we got with the bus, then compare those with the parts catalog to find out what needs to be ordered. It’s a really slow process that takes hours and hours. Sunday I spent most of the day getting some of the parts list we had made up into a spreadsheet and into the order list on the WW website. Then spent from 7:00a to 8:30p Monday finishing that first list of parts from Saturday.
Mike and I were back over at Russell’s today trying to finish listing the parts we think we need. I could not do this without Mike taking the lead. There’s nothing on an old bus he hasn’t repaired or upgraded so he knows better than anyone which parts we have to get. When you have a chance, tell him thanks and buy him a cup of coffee or lunch. He deserves it.
Tonight I was back on my computer on the WW website finding and entering part numbers into our order and into our spreadsheet. Hopefully I’ll finish entering the rest of today’s list tomorrow morning…. I hope. 🤞
